PERSONEL OF THE ATHLETICS NATIONAL SPORTS MEDICINE CLINIC S.E.G.A.S IN NORTH GREECE

The Sports Medicine Personel of National Sports Medicine Clinic S.E.G.A.S. in North Greece is a part of the oldest Greek sports Federation S.E.G.A.S. in our country.
The Sports Medicine Personel of National Sports Medicine Clinic S.E.G.A.S. in North Greece  is one of the main representatives of the Medical Committee of S.E.G.A.S. It is consisted of   three Sports Medicine Medical Centres St.Kosmas - OAKA - and this one of North Greece in Thessaloniki.
The goal of this website is to give the opportunity via internet to inform, the young doctors and physiotherapists in Greece and Europe, about current progress, clinical experience, Knowledge in Clinical Sports Medicine.
All that. We strongly believe that it is result of chain cooperation of the State - S.E.G.A.S. – and scientific action form the personnel of the Sports Medicine Medical Centre (S.E.G.A.S.) Thessaloniki.

The Sports Medicine Personel of National Sports Medicine Clinic S.E.G.A.S. in North Greece has been in operation since 1986 in Thessaloniki at the Kaftanzogleio Stadium. It represents a major source of innovation, progressive science – and especially Sports Medicine Science – both in clinical and research modes, domestically in Greece and internationally. 
Staffed by specialized and experienced personnel, the Centre has been providing a daily service for over twenty years to Greek champions in National Teams in all categories (men/women, juniors). Half of Greece comes within its catchment area with a view to treating and preventing sports injuries.
The clinic deals with:
The organization of the annual preventative check-up of Greek athletes
The planning, supervision and execution of health aspects of Greek and international sports events
The staffing of medical teams on all National Track and Field teams as well as those organized by the Hellenic Olympic Committee
Participation in research by presenting papers at Greek, European and world sports medicine conferences, as well as publication of new clinical methods for diagnosing and treating sports injuries
Training – through continuous organization of annual sports medicine conferences/talks to athletes, coaches and coaching schools as well as doctors’ groups on sports medicine topics
Training of new scientists through attendance at the daily clinics at the Centre
Informing municipal organizations, primary/secondary schools, athletes, coaches, and doctors on matters of sports medicine, the prevention and treatment of sports injuries, the need for annual preventative check-ups and on the issue of doping.
